First day of school

Today was Duncan's first day of 'school.' It was only 45 minutes and I stayed with him, but it was to introduce him to the classroom, teachers, and playground so he isn't completely freaked out on Tuesday when he goes for real ... though I am fully anticipating that he will still be freaked out somewhat. The morning started off a little rough - he didn't want to get in the car, then didn't want to get out of the car, so I carried him into the school. When we walked in, he was excited to hang up his backpack and we taped up his picture by his hook so he knows where it goes. He played with the kitchen stuff, then drew with crayons, and then played with blocks. After cleanup, we had storytime on the carpet ... guess what book they read! Piggies! Couldn't believe it. We read Piggies to him every night before bed, so he knows it by heart and as a result, did not pay much attention to the teacher while she read it. Instead, he took off his shoes. :o) After that, it was time to get backpacks on and go to the playground. He played very well for 15 minutes and didn't want to leave ... threw a tantrum and I had to carry him out while he screamed his blood-curdling scream. Good times.

I know he'll be fine at school eventually ... but I'm not looking forward to the carpool on Tuesday morning. I know he will scream when someone he's never seen before takes him from the car. :o(

We celebrated his first day with some Chick-fil-A. My mom and I switched cars because tomorrow is our drop-off for the consignment sale and we need more space ... so when I got home I realized that I also had no house key. Eric saved the day and let us in about 20 minutes later. Now the babies are sleeping and I'm getting ready to do the same.

TGIF.
