On Tuesday, I couldn't get anyone to nap ... getting an infant to sleep with a toddler that doesn't understand the meaning of quiet is nearly impossible. Violet just wouldn't close her eyes, so I had to get up and walk away. She cried for about 2 minutes, whimpered for another 3, and then fell asleep. Hallelujah. So that's how she's been going to sleep this week, and our lives are infinitely easier. We were making things way harder than they needed to be. I am very opposed to 'crying it out,' but I don't consider what we are doing to be CIO. As a friend told me recently, sometimes babies just need to fuss for a little bit before they go to sleep. Last night both babies were in bed and asleep at 8:00. It was heavenly.

Today has been a different story, though. I'm not sure why, but I'm not in a very good mood. I feel like the house is a mess and we can't get anything done. Eric and I need a date night desperately and Violet still won't take a bottle. We don't just need a date night ... I feel like I need a strong drink! Or an hour long massage or something. I don't know. But my patience is on thin ice today and I need to fix it! Maybe some ice cream after dinner since I've eaten well this weekend. :o)

Running is still going well. Went 5 miles on Saturday, which is the farthest I've gone so far. It wasn't too bad.

Potty training is going very well! He still refuses to go #2 on it, but he is tinkling consistently in his potty without a diaper. It's wonderful! I never imagined how happy I'd be when I hear my son tinkle in his potty. He looks so proud of himself, too, and it's so cute.

We bought Duncan some new shoes yesterday - size 10! His first day of 'school' is next Friday, the 26th. We still have to get him a haircut and a few school supplies.

Violet is going to be 4 months old on Thursday. Absolutely unreal. She's rolling all over the place now, and smiling so much. She is a joy. :o)

Since the kids are going to bed at the same time, can't your parents come over once the kids are down and you and Eric go out for a little while? Even just an hour at Pie Kitchen would be nice. And you know you can totally make a drink at home or order one out. I just don't have more than one;o) Just giving you options:o) And go get a massage! I'm sure she would be fine for an hour and half, or go during her nap. I've left Ellie for that amount of time.

I know we have rough days, just know you're not alone:o)
