I'm not a huge fan of July and I'm not sad to see it go. Summer is my least favorite season ... forced to stay inside because of the heat is not my idea of fun, especially with a 2.5 year old and a 3 month old. On a happier note ...
Life is good. Violet is so smiley these days! She's sleeping in the crib for naps and nighttime now, and I'm enjoying having our bed back. I get up once or twice a night to feed her. During the day, she's up 2 or 2.5 hours before going to sleep again, so we're attempting about 3 naps a day. She's sleeping in her Woombie and we're huge fans! She is a joy most of the time, and breastfeeding is also going very well right now. Every now and then I think about how this is our last baby and it makes me sad ... but I know that for us, two is the right number. I feel complete.
Duncan is a joy in the mornings and for a while after nap ... and at my parents' house, haha. When he's in a mood, though, he's tough to handle. Screams very loudly still (not crying - just screams), and no matter what I do (ignore, give him a look, redirect, etc.), he doesn't really stop until he gets engrossed in something else. It seems like he has learned his numbers and colors in just a matter of weeks. He counts to seven and then goes back to four, haha. But we'll get there! He starts 'school' on August 26th and I'm so excited for him. I know he'll love it after he's adjusted. Looking forward to getting into a routine.
Training for the mini marathon started last week and it's going well so far. I ran 3 miles on Saturday and 3 miles again this morning. Nothing higher than that until this coming Saturday when I'll run 4.
I'm on a baking kick right now - baking lots of breads, especially. This weekend I made honey wheat bread, cupcakes, and zucchini bread. This morning Duncan and I made some graham crackers. I'm also loving the crockpot more and more each time I use it. Right now I have lime chicken in it, and we'll have rice and then a vegetable with it. We're loving our Green B.E.A.N. delivery more and more each week, too. Having so many vegetables and fruits in the house is really making a difference in our diet. I'm drinking green smoothies every morning for breakfast and they are zero Weight Watchers points! Duncan loves them, too.
I should try to take advantage of the naps while I can ... that's all for now.
