This morning was Violet's 2-week appointment. She weighs 9lbs 7oz and is 22 inches long. I can tell she is getting bigger, but it's still hard to believe that right now she weighs what Duncan weighed when he was born. After leaving the doctor, we enjoyed lunch at QDoba and then I headed home with the babies. So far, Violet does not like the car. I can't remember what Duncan was like in the car when he was tiny, but Violet screams almost constantly. I feel guilty because I can't comfort her like I normally do, so it almost makes me not want to put her in the car at all. That's not really possible, though, so I just deal with it. It's almost enough to make me want to give her a pacifier, but I'm trying to avoid that if I can. Duncan still sucks his thumb and it doesn't bother me at all - I'd much rather have him suck his thumb than a pacifier ... he can't lose his thumb!

On Thursday we have an appointment at Kosair (the new one on Chamberlain) to get an ultrasound of Violet's sacral dimple (right above her bottom). The doctor doesn't think it's anything at all, but better safe than sorry, so we are just doing it to rule anything out. After the ultrasound, I am finally getting my haircut!

Tomorrow I may attempt the grocery.

The anxiety of being by myself is (very) slowly fading. There will be good days and bad days, but thankfully we've only had good ones so far. The anxiety comes from being able to meet Duncan's needs; I feel fairly confident in taking care of Violet right now. Nursing is going very well, and we don't feel sleep deprived. Nighttimes are going well, too - she wakes up once or twice, and depending on her level of alertness (and ours), we may or may not change her diaper. She nurses back to sleep, and then we're usually good to go for another 3 or 4 hours.

The basement is nearing completion - Eric is in the process of putting up the ceiling. Once that's done, and all the sanding is done, then we can prime and paint the walls and put down carpet. Yay! It's hard for him to find time to work, though.

Happy Derby week!
