Yikes, I didn't realize it's been 2 weeks since my last post!
The holidays were great, but I'm glad to be back in a routine. Eric was home on Tuesday for a snow day, and he's off on Monday for MLK.
Been cooking and baking a lot. Trying new things. Always fun. I feel like there's some nesting going on, too (probably too early, though) because I've been itching to clean stuff up and get stuff out! Eric has been working on painting the new kitchen table (finally!), so I'm excited to finally see it in the kitchen. We're also getting Duncan's new room ready - all we have left to get are the blinds (they're ordered, just not here yet) and I have to sew the duvet for his cover. I have started painting a big tree in the corner - still have to add leaves. Right now it looks like a giant dead tree, haha. I think it's going to look amazing, though! And Duncan likes it. :o)
Trying to finish up my childbirth ed certification before the baby is born. I have 3 births lined up to attend - two at the end of this month, and one in March. Two are with more experienced doulas, and one is by myself. I'm excited about it, but nervous, too. And I'm afraid I'm going to miss an important call!
So, 27 weeks this coming Monday. Wow. Feeling the baby move a lot, and it always makes me smile. Next appointment is February 4th. Feeling good, though large ... I really don't think I've eaten more than I did the last pregnancy, but I've accepted the fact this is just how my body deals with pregnancy. I weighed less when I got pregnant this time, but I'm pretty sure I'm close to how heavy I was at this point last time, too. Oh well.
Duncan is such a joy right now, except when he doesn't want to do something! But he is talking a lot more, especially since he was around so many toddlers during Christmas. He says "help, mommy," along with stuck, duck, up, down, all done, horse, hi and bye, uh oh, and a variety of animal noises. He also says "whoooooa" a lot. It's pretty stinkin' cute. And he understands almost everything we say and follows simple directions, and can communicate everything else he needs/wants usually by pointing or showing us. Loves playing with blocks, his "baby," and will still eat all day long if I let him (which I don't!). Loves books, too, and covering up in mommy and daddy's bed. He says "bye!" as he covers himself up.
Nap time. Definitely taking advantage of the opportunity these days ... I know it's going to come to an abrupt end in a few months!
