Thoughts on this Valentine's Day

*I've had an amazing day, thanks to Eric. He got up with Duncan at 7:30 and let me sleep in. He made me breakfast after Duncan went back down for his nap, and this afternoon we napped on the couch together during Duncan's long afternoon nap. We visited his parents and enjoyed some Chinese food with them for dinner. Eric went out to get us some ice cream once we arrived home, and now we're settled in for the night, watching the Olympics, and waiting for the snow.

*I gave blood at church this morning. This may sound weird, but it made me feel like such a good person. I've been looking for something that I can do to "give back" - it's difficult to find things that don't require a lot of time, since I have a one-year-old. We've been giving things to Goodwill, and now I hope to make donating blood something that I do regularly. Other suggestions welcome! I like giving. :o)

*My mom said that Duncan was not allowed to do anything new while they were gone. Well, sorry mom, but it seems that these past 3 weeks, Duncan has blossomed! He is not only active, but interactive with us. He waves at people and claps when we say "good job" or "yay!" to him. He knows what he wants and goes straight for it. He stands for seconds at a time without holding onto anything, but falls once he "realizes" this is what he's doing, and he is crawling so fast. Duncan loves peekaboo and hanging upside down. He says "dada," "mama," and so many other syllables that we can't tell what he is saying, but we know it's important! Having a one-year-old is so much fun!!!

*My friend Ashley (of "Robley") asked if I wanted to be part of a book club, and I of course said yes! I love reading, and I have no idea why I don't read more. I enjoy it so much. Our first meeting was this past Thursday and we're reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I think it will sound cliche or silly if I try to describe the premise; it would be easier for you to go here and read about it. I am loving it so far, and intend on starting on my own resolutions soon! One of them is going to be to focus on a different area of the house (pantry, closet, etc.) each week. Like I've been saying a lot recently, clutter stresses me out.

*We had a wonderful time with Seth, Jeanine, and Liam this past week. When we stopped by my parent's house today to turn down the heat, I saw the sledding tracks and it made me sad. I hope that some day they decide to move here so that our babies can grow up together, and that we can all grow old together.  On Friday, Jeanine and I went to Tranquility Salon and Spa and each had a 1-hour massage and a 1-hour facial. It was *heavenly*. Jeanine and I both decided that we will do this every time she comes to visit. :o)

*I'm loving the snow. I know a lot of people are tired of it, but I enjoy it.

*When it comes to spending money, there are a few things that I have trouble resisting. One of them is bags and purses - I get an adrenaline rush from new bags. I am, however, selling old bags on craigslist in order to convince Eric to let me buy the new one that I have my eyes on. I haven't decided on a pattern yet. I know, I'm silly. I am, however, still going strong on my resolution to not buy any new clothes for an entire year.

*Eric is heading to Mexico the first week of March. Waaaaaaaaah.

*My parents get home on Wednesday!

A girl after my own heart -- I am obsessed with bags. Even when I don't need a new tote bag, especially now that I'm not carrying books and lunches back and forth to work every day, I still fall in love with one until I convince myself that I do need it! It's a horrible addiction for me!
