Dear Duncan

It seems that you do something new every day. I can't believe how big you are! I can't cradle you in one arm anymore - it makes mommy both happy and sad! I am glad you are growing up, but I miss your tiny baby noises and movements. You are very efficient at army crawling across the floor to get a toy that you want (or a cord, an air conditioner vent, or a pillow) and you're feeding yourself very well. You especially like the puff cereal, apples, broccoli, and green peppers.

Bathtime is especially fun in our house because you love to splash around! You also love to suck on washcloths. Diaper changes, however, are becoming more and more of a challenge because 1) you are so interested in what is going on every where else (even if there IS nothing going on), and 2) you can't keep your hands off of your wee-wee! Makes it very challenging when you've pooped and I have to struggle to keep your hands away until you are cleaned up!

It's getting hard for me to hold you on my hip for very long because you weigh almost 22 pounds, but I manage. You are starting to resist taking naps these days - you'll talk and talk and talk instead of sleeping. That's okay, though, because mommy is much more patient these days and can handle your fussiness. Plus, you are pretty much an awesome baby all around - you're not grumpy too often. I know that when you are, you just really don't feel too great.

You have 6 teeth now, and I think that the next 2 are already on the way. I can't believe you will be 8 months old in just 2 weeks. You're wearing mostly 12/18 month size clothes, and although you don't have any shoes that fit, we tried some on you the other day and you wear a size 3. :o)

We wake up pretty early these days - between 7 and 7:30, then eat breakfast, and go for a walk around the neighborhood. I think you enjoy our walks! You usually take 2 naps, but sometimes it is just 1 because you are just too nosy to sleep! And you head to bed between 6:30 and 7 usually, depending on the day's naps.

Today I am going to buy another gate for our living room because you can't resist crawling toward the basement door, as well as the cable box. We were hoping to avoid getting gates until we move, but that's not happening in the next few weeks, so we had to give in and purchase some.

I am having so much fun with you every day. I love my job. :o) Your smiles and giggles are infectious.

Love Mommy
