Another relaxing night last night. We had hotdogs and grilled vegetables for dinner and watched "Family Guy." We were lazy for a while, trying to get baby boy to kick for Eric with no luck, and then got our lazy behinds off the couch to paint our casing for the window. That only took a little bit since there's not much to paint.

After that, Eric finished his movie that I didn't like while I listened to music and worked on the registries. I think I've got them all sorted out. There's so much stuff! I still don't have a clue what to do about bottles and all that - since I don't plan on pumping very much, I don't know what to register for. I need to go to the store and study them, I think. Suggestions welcome on anything that I've left out/things I should take off/change. I know that I shouldn't register for clothes, but what about the newborn onesies and stuff? I don't know.

Tonight is part 2 of 4 of our hospital class, so that will be fun. Hopefully the work day goes by quickly.

When is your shower?

My friend Ashley offered a few months ago but she hasn't said anything else about it recently. Also, I think there will be a family one at some point, but no one's said anything about that, either. I'm just waiting patiently ... :o)

Babies can be picky about bottles, so get a couple of different kinds and try them out. I used Avent and really liked them. They can be tricky if you don't get the lid on just right (or a little too tight), and can leak, but all you have to do is readjust the lid. I would suggest looking at them and get some that have the least amount of parts to them. You'll already have about a million tiny things to clean, so bottle parts should be made simple. I've heard not so great things about the Playtex Ventair (one of the extra parts wears out easily).

Definitely get bottles though, even if only a couple. There will be times when you'll want to leave the baby for more than 2 hours, and in that case, you can just keep some breast milk in the freezer for Eric (or your mom, etc.) to feed him. I would suggest letting Eric feed him every day if possible...it creates a nice bond. And in my case, I couldn't make enough milk for Sophie, so had to supplement with formula. I was very happy to have a couple of bottles around so that I didn't have to go searching after getting out of the hospital.

I wouldn't necessarily register for onesies unless there's a specific package that you really, really like. I got a bunch that I didn't ask for. Maybe just register for a basic set of white ones? After my showers and gifts at her birth, I don't think we had to buy clothes for like a year!

Anyways, I'll take a look at your registries and let you know if I see anything that's absolutely essential missing. ;-) You're at Babies R Us and Target?
