Yuck. I fear change...besides, the open floorplan is just a fad. I prefer more rooms with doors so I can get away if I need too. I will admit that grandma's house needed updating, but I would not have taken down that wall. I don't think.
Wow, I know this is sad for your family, but it's going to look really nice I think. Keep updating with pictures.

He's so rude, I agree I don't like the big open spaces either, but the wall looks better without the paneling and it adds more light to the room.
