Life Changing Week

I had to bite my tongue all day long at work on Thursday ... I didn't want to tell anyone. I couldn't keep it a complete secret, though, and I told Linda. I knew I could trust her. :o) After work I headed to my interview at the Pie Kitchen in J-town. I had my interview with the general manager, Christina. She is really nice and we got along really well. We even talked about American Idol and who we thought should make the top 12. We made plans to have me meet the other baker that they've hired (Clarissa) on Friday morning at 6:15am at the Pie Kitchen on Lexington Avenue by the old Vogue Theater.

Once at home, I made a list of pros and cons for taking the job ... my conclusion was that if I'm happy at work, I'm happy at home. I know that this job will make me happy once I get used to everything. The hours will be the hardest thing to get used to, but it will work, and I know it will be fine. I am off from ValuMarket tomorrow, so I am going to train at the J-town store at 7am. I will be working full time at the store that will open in Springhurst at the end of the month. Before the end of the year, though, a store is going to open in Fern Creek, and Christina said that I would be able to move there if I wanted to. Yay! I am going to be off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I am home by noon on the days that I work, so I think it will be fine.

So I told Derrick at ValuMarket once I got to work on Friday ... he was disappointed, and later that day he offered me more money to get me to stay, and even offered me the same schedule with Sundays and Mondays off, but I just can't pass this job up - I'll be in a brand new kitchen (have I mentioned that already? haha) and it will be so clean and wonderful. :o) I was looking forward to tell Sara least of all because I have grown to like her so much ... I feel like we could be good friends, even though I am about 13 years younger than she is. I enjoy talking to her a lot. But anyway ... so everyone at work knows now, and they are all happy for me. I love working with them, and I would like to stay at one job for longer than six months ... maybe this one will be the one. Hehe.

On Friday night I met Ian, Mindy, and their little girl Sophie at the Gasthaus for some dinner - there were a few other students there, too. We had a good time and dinner was so good. It's one of my favorite restaurants.

Work yesterday was very relaxed and went by pretty quickly. Afterwards, Kelly, Dietra, and myself got pedicures at a place across the street. Good times. I love the color that I picked. :o)
Eric and I fell asleep on the couch pretty early and I don't really remember going to bed, but I slept really well. We woke up at 7:30 (8:30 if you count the spring forward) and stayed in bed until it was time to get ready for Riverdance. :o) The show was so wonderful. We were in the second to last row in the very top balcony, but the seats were still really good. I miss dancing.

After the show we headed to Wick's for some pizza - it was a fundraiser for Fred, one of the trainers at the LAC, because he broke his kneecap (or tore something ... don't know for sure) and he can't work for awhile and he has no insurance. So it was $10 and we got all the pizza we wanted! Sweet deal, except for the fact that the band that was playing was ridiculously loud and we couldn't think straight. We were there about 45 minutes, though, I think, and then we couldn't stand it anymore. But it was for a good cause. :o)

So now I'm here on the couch and Mabel is keeping my feet nice and warm. :o) Celtic Woman is on tv and Eric is down at Diana's looking at her new shelves. I think he is going to work around the house when he gets back ... but I have a headache and I'm going to sit here awhile.

Congrats on the new job! I also really like Celtic Woman and want to see them in concert sometime; I discovered them on PBS a few months ago.
