Dear Life,
Please slow down. Thanks.
Love,
Katherine
P.S. You rock.

Life is wonderful. I may complain day to day, but overall, I am so happy.
Duncan will be THREE in February. He is talking up a storm. We are blown away daily at his perceptiveness and his ability to pick up new things so quickly. He problem solves, remembers a crazy amount of stuff, and never ceases to do amazing things. He is such a miracle. As of about a week ago, he is 39 inches tall and still hovering at 36 pounds. He seems to enjoy school and talks up a storm when he climbs in the car to go home. Loves to be outside, especially with pop pop, and would still eat all day long if I let him. He is wearing underwear to school now, and is good at tinkling in the potty when he needs to, but he still sleeps in a diaper. I continually strive to let him help me do whatever I'm doing, whether that be cooking dinner, starting laundry, or getting the mail. He is happiest when he is next to me, helping around the house, playing, with no pressure and no time restraints. I will admit, though, that this kind of life is difficult when I run out of things to do around the house. The TV begs to be turned on sometimes, but redirection and distraction (and sometimes bribery) are my constant companions these days.
Violet is a joy. She will be 8 months old on Sunday. She has 7 teeth as of last night - 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. He laughs and smiles a lot, and is generally a happy baby when he is not tired. She is 27.5 inches long, but I don't know how much she weighs. She weighed 19 pounds at 6 months. She is wearing 12 and 18 month clothes, and her winter wardrobe consists of tights, turtleneck onesies, and her wool dungarees and/or her knitted rainbow sweater that I bought from Etsy a few weeks ago. Oh, and her wool pilot's cap, too. :o) She is 'army crawling,' just like Duncan did until he was 11 months old! So funny. She takes 2 naps a day, but is usually just fine if we skip her morning nap, like we do on Mondays at Waldorf for parent/child classes. She goes to bed around 6:30 and wakes up twice, once around 10pm and again around 3:30. Still breastfeeding well, and eating small pieces of whatever we have for dinner that night. Loving ever minute of this age.
Eric and I have started an Etsy business called The Lavender Tree. We are selling wooden rocking boats & steps, affirmation cards, and hooded blankets. Good times. We sold our first boat to someone we don't know last night.
Lots of things on the horizon. Excited for the future.
Please slow down. Thanks.
Love,
Katherine
