I'm calling it

I think this one is definitely a girl.

Already, this pregnancy is 180 degrees different from Duncan's. With Duncan, I did not get sick - only tired. The past week and a half, though, I've had slight nausea all day long, and the only things that sound good to me are junk food (aka stuff I haven't touched with a 10 foot pole in the last year). Last week I asked Eric to get KFC for dinner. Yikes. Falling off the healthy wagon very quickly over here.

We met our amazing midwife yesterday in Bloomington. Hopefully we will not have to drive to Bloomington for each prenatal visit. Our goal is to find somewhere in Salem to meet, and I think we may have found a solution, so I'm hoping that works out. We are so excited, though. We only talked with her for an hour, but it was so ... relaxed and informative and comforting. Can't wait to actually start having appointments with her! If anyone knows of a place where I can get an ultrasound (without having to be under an OB's care), please let me know. Those fancy places where you pay for pictures and videos will not do a viability ultrasound. My only concern is making sure there is a heartbeat (and hopefully only one).

On another topic, Duncan is such a little boy these days. He makes his wants known, and shakes his head 'yes' or 'no' when I ask him questions. Communication is a wonderful thing. He is, however, becoming more picky about his food with each passing day. Breakfast is the biggest struggle right now, but oatmeal was a success this morning, so we'll try that tomorrow morning, too.

We keep calling this baby a girl too based on how I feel. That would be fun to have two little girls:o) so happy you are excited about your new midwife. I also hope you are able to find a place for an US that is close to you.

Wow! I hope you're having a little girl this time! That would be awesome. Oh...and I'm super excited about you possibly meeting at my mom's house! I could always come and watch Duncan for you while you're meeting with Jennifer! :-)

My former boss's wife swore #2 was a girl because she was like you -- never sick with #1 and sick all day with #2 (even had to open the door in the middle of the road and throw up on the street at a stop light!), but it was also a boy! Just goes to show every pregnancy is different and most of the old wives' tales are bologna! But I hope you feel better, whether the new little Scalf is a boy or a girl in there! :)

PS: Can't you go to your former OB for a viability US and just not schedule any follow-up/subsequent pre-natal appointments?? Just a thought...

I'm loving all the comments. Thanks, everyone!

Dawn - I know nothing's ever certain, but since we're not finding out, we're going to speculate. :o) Also, my OB will not do a viability ultrasound unless there's a reason (bleeding, etc.) - we would only use a doppler to hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks, and then do an ultrasound only then if they couldn't find the heartbeat.
