Ease

Before Duncan was born I used to wonder how women with babies go to the grocery. I was terrified to go by myself and didn't how, logistically, it would work. If only I had known ... ha. Unless I put Duncan on my back (which I will be doing from now on and made the mistake of not doing this today), he likes to spin around and face backwards, grab at everything, and just will not sit still. This is not a complaint by any means; I simply realized today as I was holding onto Duncan for dear life as he straightened his legs because he wanted down (you all know what I'm talking about) how much easier it was with a newborn. But, as always, hindsight is 20/20. I suppose as a new parent you're always going to be anxious/nervous/scared about the future with your first child, whether it be about sleeping, breastfeeding, starting solids, teething, crawling, etc. That's just the way it goes - at least it did/does for me.

Eric was in Mexico last week and returned safely on Friday. I did not like being by myself, especially since my mom is in Ireland and my dad is in Colorado. My parents return this coming Saturday.

We had a fabulous, though extremely hot and humid, weekend. The humidity is almost unbearable. I considered going to the Splash Park today, but just the thought of having to walk thought the zoo to get to the Splash Park made me sweat. But back to the weekend ... Friday night we visited with our friends and their new baby. Good times were had by all, and Duncan showed his fondness for the baby by pointing at him and smiling. On Saturday, we visited with some other friends at their World Cup Kickoff Party. I made lemon bars to take. We stayed until nap time and headed to my mom and dad's house. It's nice to have another house to go to, hehe. After nap we attended a family baby shower. We all had a great time there, too ... would have been nice to spend the majority of the time outside, but it was just too hot and humid.

Eric and I are discussing possible vacation plans at the end of July/early August. Elizabeth and Charlie are moving to North Carolina and we'd like to visit them, as well as the beach ... but we are considering other locations as well, like Williamsburg, one of my most favorite places! We'll see.

Not too much on the agenda for this week. Some serious cleaning is in order, and maybe we'll get a few projects started ... but first Duncan needs to fall asleep.
