Easter Weekend

We had a fabulous Easter weekend. On Friday, we all went to the zoo in the morning, then my parents came over for dinner. I made veggie burgers and the buns, and we also had fruit salad and corn on the cob. We were able to eat outside. As Eric pointed out a few days ago, we are so glad we built the deck before Duncan was born. We don't think it would have been done otherwise. That afternoon, Eric built out container garden and we bought some broccoli plants, onions, and garlic from Garden Gate. We planted that, along with some zucchini and some green beans. We'll see what sprouts. We're optimistic, but won't be devastated since it's our first attempt at all of this. We also got our compost bin all set up. Exciting stuff! If you're looking for info on how to set up your own compost bin, this is the website we used.
On Saturday, we had lunch at QDoba with my parents and I ordered some worms for our compost pile from Amazing Green Planet. Duncan napped through the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt, so hopefully we'll make it next year. I made pizza for dinner (I think I've nearly perfected it!) and Diana joined us. That night, Eric frosted three more of the doors to our Ikea cabinets. They're looking great! The biggest thing that happened on Saturday, though, was that Duncan took his first steps! Now, we have to stand him up first since he hasn't mastered the whole "standing up from sitting" thing yet, but he'll get it. See Facebook for a video of the 3rd and 4th steps! It was very exciting ... so exciting that after the first step I shrieked and Duncan started crying and then fell down. Good story, kinda funny, but I felt really bad about it.
Sunday, we attended the early service at church for Easter. We enjoyed a nice breakfast afterward at church, too, and then we all took a nap back at home until 12:15. We headed to the in-law's house for lunch and it was quite a full house! We had a good time, though, and so did Duncan. He and Coralie even interacted a bit, which was so cute to see.
Yesterday, I went to Half Price Books and to visit my mom and dad for a little bit. Then mom and I went to the grocery ... going to the grocery with Duncan wears me out. It was nice to have some help! Last night after dinner I took a walk/run and really enjoyed it (VN is off for Spring Break this week). I haven't exercised outside in quite a long time. I hope to be able to to that more often.
I'm not sure what I'm doing today. It's only 8:30, but I feel like I've been up for such a long time already. Duncan has been getting up around 6 lately, and I'm not used to it. Playgroup is an option today, but so is the zoo. Right now, though, I have to go water the garden!
Someday soon I will post about something pertinent to the title of this blog, I promise! It's hard to post about topics I'm passionate about without offending people ... I guess I shouldn't worry about it, but I do.
