A Weight Has Been Lifted

Clever title, eh? :o)

I've been thinking a lot recently about my weight loss and how it feels much different this time. Previously, Weight Watchers was simply a way to fit into my clothes better and look better. This time, though, in addition to losing the baby weight, my thought process is different. Perhaps this has something to do with my new-found passion for sustainability, all-things local, and organic. Now, when someone offers me something (i.e. a Coke or some candy), I don't think, "No, that will mess up my points for the day. I shouldn't eat that." Instead, I think, "No, that's not healthy. I don't want to put that in my body." I've never thought this way about food until now. I love it! Yes, sometimes I will have a sip of Eric's Pepsi, and sometimes and I will eat something with trans fats, but for the most part, I find myself not wanting to buy or eat those things.

As a side note, though, I really think that I owe a lot of my success this time to breastfeeding. Those 10 extra points make calculating my points every day MUCH easier.

I set my ultimate goal as 150, but I honestly think that I can get to 145 or even 140. I'll see how I feel once I hit 150. :o)

It's volunteer day for Eric and GE employees, which means that he will be home early. Yay! Our plan is to hit up Kohl's and Whole Foods.

Last night was the first night in months that I nursed Duncan down for bed. He's been getting a bottle each since late May (I think), but last night I thought I'd try without. Success! He didn't wake up any more than normal. Now I don't have to be stressed about not pumping enough at night. I fear that my supply is going down, but I'll just up my water and oatmeal intake, and hopefully that will fix the problem. I have to make it at least a year!

Yesterday we went to late service at church. Eric was doing media, so I had Duncan the whole service by myself. It went just fine, though! Much better than expected. Afterward, Duncan napped for an hour (and that was it all day -- eek!), and we baked some apple cinnamon oatmeal bread. I'm on a baking kick. In the past 2 weeks I've made squash bread, the bread from yesterday, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I'm going to make some sweet potato bread in the next few days, too, because we have leftover mashed sweet potatoes. Next weekend we have a neighborhood fall party and a potluck at church - think I'll be making lots of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! They're pretty simple.

Got out a bunch of my winter clothes on Saturday. It's like having a whole new wardrobe because I haven't worn any of this stuff since 2007.

I love fall.
