Everyone has their opinions. If we all had the same ones, the world would be a very different place. I was reading the article on the Courier Journal website this morning, though, and there was one comment from a reader saying that "Of all the reality tv stuff, this is the ickiest." Okay ... WHAT? Yes, I agree that reality tv has gotten out of control. However, Idol is on the low end of icky. It isn't about sex or surviving on bugs while living in the jungle for six weeks or trying to get "friends" on your side so you can betray everyone else so you won't get kicked off. Idol is family friendly. It's good clean competition between singers (much like Star Search, right?) and I don't understand why people loathe it so much. Maybe those people are just upset that they are tone deaf. :o)

There is another article in the Courier today about how Kentuckians may be racist because 60% of the vote was for Hillary. I hate to say it, but I agree! If you look at the breakdown, EVERY county in the state was for Hillary except Jefferson and Fayette (Louisville and Lexington), which I find very interesting. I didn't read the whole article - I just saw the headline. But I can't say that I blame people for thinking it. I said a few weeks ago when I read that Hillary was predicted to win by a landslide that it may be for that reason. I'm totally not surprised by the headline. I hate that it IS that way in this state, but I can't make people change their views or opinions, just like with the Idol thing! I know that the headline kind of generalizes people's opinions, which the media tends to do a lot, but like I said, I don't blame people for thinking that that's the reason she won.

I was reading someone else's blog about how it's weird how people will post anything and everything on the internet for everyone to see. I guess I agree with that. I do a blog just because it's faster for me to type than to write; otherwise I'd write it down in a journal. I mean, it's not like I'm going to post my credit card number on here or something. I write down day to day happenings and then other thoughts I have, and if people don't want to read them, they they won't. Simple as that. Maybe that's how people think of their posts when they post things that can be viewed as inappropriate or no one else's business? I don't know. Just a thought. I am not adverse to being more open on here, but I know that the majority of people who read this (and there are about 5 or 6 in total, I think) don't want to hear me rant about my personal issues and how frustrated I am with my body and all of that junk. :o)

But anyway ... it's Thursday! I feel like this week has NOT gone quickly. I am ready for it to be tomorrow at 5:00 so we can pack and go to sleep and then hit the road for the 90 degree temps, family, food, pool time, and shopping!!! (although don't tell Eric about the last one, hehe)

Katherine,

I wasn't aiming what I wrote at you. I very much enjoy what you write, and I find it very tasteful and you do it for the right reasons. I'm just past my limit with people who post constantly (twitter or just blog posts) about extremely personal things or for advice - and then whine and moan when they don't like what others thought. I know it's personal choice, but have a little class people!

Keep writing! And, enjoy Texas! We lived there for a few years and loved it, so I know you will too!

Great post.

The "interesting article" is great advice for everyone.

Idol is the only "reality show" I watch now and I don't even think of it as a reality show. In fact, it is the farthest thing from "reality" (well, reality show is a misnomer anyway) and is a completely invented fantasy. Very entertaining...particularly all the stuff before the actual competition. For a real reality show, check out something like "Carrier" on PBS...just 10 episode though. Documentaries are the true reality shows.

Yes, I would say it was mostly a racial vote in Ky, but Hillary may still be stronger with the working class and that is hopefully a close second...if not the reason she won in Ky (all the working class in the Eastern part of the state).

there always has to be a reason why a candidate wins an election, it can't be just because the majority of people in that state agree with her positions on important issues! this whole racial divide bullshit makes me angry. i hate the media right now, and that's the main reason why.

i consider Idol to be competition show more than a reality show. plus i like music, so that's why i like it! Yay David Cook! down with evil midget Archie!

have fun in Tejas!

Okay, I don't loathe "American Idol" that much! Also, I watch extremely trashy shows like "Rock of Love," "Scott Baio is old and doing something this year," "The Real World" (which, this season, is the worst show on TV), and occasionally even "Flavor of Love." I just have a problem with how they choose some of their "talent."

Regardless of anyone's opinions, it is all for entertainment purposes anyway.
