DERBY!!!

When Eric told me that he posted, I thought for sure that he would mention what an awesome time we had at Derby on Saturday. So ... we had an awesome time at Derby on Saturday. :o) We got up super early and were in line to get in to the infield at 7:15 or so. We got a spot right along the fence and had a great view of the horses running by, along with the big screen that showed the race, odds, minutes to the next race, etc. The day went by really quickly, too. I thought that the 11 hours would drag by, but it was so much fun. We talked, played Catchphrase, ate a little bit (I only let myself have a Strawberry Chill), and got a little bit sunburned. We got back to Robley's at 8:00 or so and grilled out. We were home and in bed around 10:00. Zzzzzzzz.
I think that the infield is something that every Louisvillian should experience at least once. I can't say that I like it better than Thunder - that is a little more calm. I mean, it's $40 a piece just to get in, so ... yeah. Good thing Eric and I don't drink because the 16 0z. beers were $8 a piece and the mint juleps (in the glasses - the only way you can get them) were $9.75. Crazy. But we had a good time. Just don't know if we'll be going back again - I might prefer to sit out on my deck for 11 hours next year and just enjoy being with Eric. :o)
Sunday was lazy. Mom and dad came over for a late lunch. It was a beautiful day. We went to Lowe's and bought some fertilizer for the yard and a pretty hanging plant for the porch. We relaxed the rest of the afternoon. Nice end to a really fun weekend.
My legs are so sunburned that my left ankle is swollen. Very odd ... but I am just keeping the aloe handy and that's about all that I can do. Hopefully it will feel a lot better by tomorrow. It's better than it was, but it still looks rather painful.
18 days until Texas!!! :o)
