We did it!

Yes, we did. Wfinished the Mini-Marathon in 3 hours and 21 minutes with a pace of 15:20 per mile. Without having trained at all, I think that's pretty dang good. Besides being proud of myself, and very very very sore, it shows me that when I can go running, I can always go farther than I think I can. The problem really, though, is that I was not tired at all - I mean, I could have kept going. It was my legs that gave me the problems. I just need to strengthen my legs! I fully intend on doing more races. It was so much fun! So once I am back to 100%, I am going to start running again (in addition to the elliptical, of course). I want to have runner's legs, hehe. I guess I favor my right foot, too, because I have blisters on every toe (yummy), but my left one is fine. Hm. I wonder what I can do about that?
We arrived downtown at 5:15 or so, parked in the Hyatt parking garage, and took a school bus to the starting line. It was cold and rainy and we thought we were going to have to wait outside for an hour and a half. Eek! But the middle school was open so we were able to sit in the gym until it was time to start. The course was beautiful - we ran through Iroquois Park (that was hilly) and then pretty much just up Southern Parkway to Churchill Downs, around the infield, and then up 3rd Street into downtown. Regardless of how I am feeling next year/what condition I'm in, as of right now I plan on doing the Mini every year. It's easily walkable, but I plan on improving my time every time! If it hadn't been for my stupid foot, I could have run farther. We ran a good 8 or 9 miles and then walked the last 3 or so because our muscles were getting so tight. I am definitely feeling the after effects today.
Eric is going to LA today and will be there (at least as of right now) until Friday. It's sort of complicated, but basically he has to open up a bunch of the boxes of refrigerators that he just built in Mexico and bend some part of it to the shape that it was supposed to be until the supplier decided to change the design without letting anyone know. So ... all these bracket things started popping off when people/stores got them out and there wasn't a way to realize anything was wrong with them until the wrap came off. So ... yeah, that's it.
I don't really know what I'm planning on doing this week (besides choir and MK). I got my Red Jacket in the mail on Thursday. :o) It's purdy. I DO, however, plan on eating extremely well and exercising. Core plan starts today!
Congratulations, Mom, for the Mini AND for being the #1 female in the contest. You rock. :o)
And one more thing ... my Prom was 6 years ago today. AWWWWW.
