Foreclosure Woes

So, we found out today that one house in our neighborhood had infact been a foreclosed house. Its a HUGE house and as Katherine pointed out we walked through it many times and they had cherry floors, marble everywhere, incredible banisters and not to mention a 2 story greatroom that I'm sure was super easy to heat/cool. So someone got in over their head. Its the only one so I'm not too worried about it bringing property values down and its sold now so that is good.

What really initiated this post was another house in the neighborhood. We found out today that there is one house on a front cul-de-sac that has 2 cardboard signs in the front windows that apparently say "BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT BUILD HERE" or something like that. I guess they are broke because they used a pen and not a magic marker or sharpie so I can't read it. It doesn't look like anyone is home but I'm going to leave them an envelope with a letter anyway. I probably will pretend to be a buyer who happens to see their sign. I know I know, why pretend to be something when I could just ask them, but they apparently are SUPER pissed off about something and I think they would be more likely to respond to a letter if they thought they had a chance to curb some business from McBride. So yeah, basically I want to know their beef and I think as a homeowner in the neighborhood I have the right to know. I mean, they chose to live here too it can't be that bad. I want to know if McBride screwed them? or if they weren't working on their warranty issues? Or if maybe they just bought too much house and they are pissed because McBride didn't pretend to be their mother and tell them they couldn't afford it?

So yeah, if anyone can think of another possible reason or a way to approach this let me know. I think its a silly silly thing to do so we'll see. I may just try and walk up to the door but it looks vacant. If I hear something about it I'll post it. And if anyone has any really cool possible names I could use to pose as a potential resident let me know.

I hear "Dentamaro" makes you look studly, and instantly makes you look like you're from ahh ahh ahh ahh Chicago so they wouldn't be able to tell you're a local.

We were going to put a sign like that in our window because it faces Main Street. The sign would have said "Renter Beware, High Crime Area." However, my car was vandalized and people smoke in the building and our property management company blows. Did I also mention our apartment isn't de-leaded? That didn't happen in your neighborhood.

You are so right about people getting into these situations with mortgages. They just want to purchase a lot of stuff that they can't afford (like what someone has on television, etc.) and don't want to face the consequences. I defintely do not place the entire blame on these huge mortgage companies like Countrywide or even the small ones, even though they are part of the problem. That fine print is there for people to read and acknowledge before signing all that paperwork.

Anyway, I went off on a tangent. I hope things are alright in your neighborhood and nice to see you this weekend.

whatever, some pens are more expensive than sharpies...doesn't necessarily mean that they're broke!
