Good Week ... Great Weekend

Work last week was pretty busy ...
Jeff got me out of Jury Duty, although I was looking forward to it. We had a new guy named David start on Thursday and he's pretty slow, but I think he'll be okay. It's just going to take him a while to learn everything. On Friday, Sara was gone downtown to make the cake for WorldFest - it was 8 feet long! I wish I could have helped, but I had other obligations. I guess that comes with being Assistant Manager!
On Friday night, we met my parents at Jason's Deli for dinner and had a nice meal outside. We laughed a lot. :o) Then we went over to my grandma's to hang out with she and Trent. He came up for the weekend. We left there around 7:45 and drove to MidCity Mall to drop off a cake order and a kit that someone had ordered at our store. She wanted to pick it up at MidCity Mall, so I took all of it out there. After that, Eric and I had a very enjoyable walk down Bardstown Road past Eastern Parkway. It was such a nice evening!
Saturday morning, we slept in a little bit and Eric got up to mow the lawn. I went downtown to work at the WorldFest until 6pm, but I left at 4 because a new shift came in and there were way too many people back there. When I got home, Eric had most of our camping stuff out and we were out the door around 5:15. We headed for Burgin, KY, which is close to Harrodsburg. We camped at a place called Cummins Ferry Campground and RV Park. I guess a lot of people spend a long time there ... there was karaoke from 9 until 11, as well as fireworks that went on for a while. So, although we were in the "primitive" part of the park, it was not very primitive at all. Still, we slept until 7:30 or so on Sunday morning.
We walked down to the lake, had some breakfast, broke camp, and headed for Natural Bridge State Park. We got there around 10:30, but had some trouble finding a campground with open spots, so we decided to just get a permit for camping anywhere and start hiking. We headed out on the Osborne Bend Loop Trail around 11:30 with one backpack ... some water, lunch stuff, bugspray, all the necessities. The map says that the trail is 7.0 miles, but that does not include the almost 3 miles that you have to walk on the road to get back to the car! So it was a very long afternoon hike and we didn't have any good views. But, as always, we are always very proud of ourselves once we finish a hike. For lunch I had a tuna and crackers kit thing, and Eric had Vienna sausages. We drove back to Koomer Ridge Campground after looking for other primitive sites with no luck, and found a wonderful spot. We love this campground. It is very well kept up, the spots are very secluded and pretty big, and there are nice bathrooms with showers and water. We set up camp and sat around and relaxed for a good bit. We made dinner at 6pm ... Chicken Helper chicken fried rice, pineapple, and jello pudding snacks. We like our stove. :o) We were going to make a fire just to have something to do, but decided against it because there wasn't really a purpose for it. We had a nice Citronella candle to keep the mosquitoes away. We went to sleep around 8, I think.
This morning we woke up around 7:30 again, broke camp, and headed for home. We stopped at McDonalds for breakfast, as well as Flying J for some gas, and we were home before 10:30. We have had a very good and efficient day. First, we unpacked the car and put some clothes in the washer. Then we showered and got to putting things away. We decided to rearrange our bedroom, so we did that for a while and put some more things away. After lunch, we finished the bedroom and decided to go through all of our clothes and get rid of the ones we never wear. This took a long time, as we were marking everything down for our taxes. :o) We are getting rid of about 150 items! Plus, we have some extra closet space now. In our bedroom, we put the bed in the corner, moved the dresser to where the vanity was, and put the vanity where the dresser was. We've pretty much decided that we're just not going to have a tv in our room, and so that's another thing out of there.
We had my car washed (for free with a coupon in the mail) and had a pleasant dinner at Moby Dick. Right now, Eric is vacuuming the steps, and then we're going to tackle the living room down here. Yay for clean!
Jack and Mabel had some good bonding time this weekend, we are pretty sure. When we came back from dinner, they were snuggled up on the couch together asleep. Hehe. They are so cute!
I am going to register for the Mini Marathon! YAY! I want to run it so badly, and this is the year that I'm going to do it. It's on April 26th.
This week: work Tuesday through Saturday. Work at Loft on Thursday night, and on call on Friday night. Then, that's pretty much it. Jesica starts full time a week from today. WOOHOO! I am very excited about that! She is such a big help and we have a very good time.
That's all for now.
