Chi-caaaa-go!

Before I talk about the exciting part of the week; that is, going to Chicago tonight, I have to discuss work ...

It has been very stressful! And very busy! I'm not one to complain (because I said I wouldn't), but it's getting ridiculous. So little Sara is on vacation. Boss Sara is now on vacation for the rest of the week. Today it was myself, Kelly (who came back from Outer Loop to help us out just for today), and Dietra. In addition to there only being three people to run the entire deli/bakery every day this week, which is next to impossible, there is also another issue. The building is old ... the pipes are backed up and we are not allowed to drain ANY water. What does this mean? We can fill the sink up, wash dishes, and then we have to put the dirty water into buckets and/or suck it out with a shop vac and take it outside. A few things: 1. If the health department knew, we would not be open. 2. Today was the THIRD day that this has not been fixed. How hard is it to call someone? SOMEONE must be able to come out and fix it. I mean, not only can we not function with just three people, but not being able to use water? Oh, and one more thing - Robbie closed last night by himself because Lydia cannot work for a few days. The paper roll, which is pretty heavy, fell on her leg and she can't work. So, Robbie was busy doing everything alone, and was not able to prep any chicken for today. Result? I had to prep chicken, which means basically rinsing it off and putting 40 pieces into buckets. That's fine, but we can't drain any water ... so we had a sink full of bloody chicken water for a little while today. So yeah, we're all pretty pissed about it. That is, the few of us that are there than CAN be pissed about it. At one point today, the stopper from the sink came off during a point when we were busy and Dietra had to take a break from washing the dishes to come help us serve lunch. (By the way, the "stopper" that we use to keep water from draining is a top to our containers that we put salads and lunch leftovers in - so not really a stopper at all, that would be TOO fancy). A few minutes after this, Mike, who has been in charge of trying to get someone to come and fix this issue, comes back and tells us that Derrick is pissed, asked us if we had drained any water, and Dietra replies that it was an accident and she can't help it if the ghetto stopper we have comes off (she didn't use the word ghetto, but something more descriptive). Mike told us that Derrick said that if it happens again, that WE have to go back there and clean it up. Dietra and I were about to scream. It was a very stressful day and I'm glad it's over! End of rant. :o)

Have I mentioned that I love my job? I really do! :o)

Okay, so enough of that. After work I went to the bank and then to get a pedicure. I stopped by Shane Co. to get my ring cleaned, came home and showered, finished packing, and now I'm here waiting for Eric to get home so we can go to dinner and head to the airport. I am taking the garment bag and it is really freaking heavy. Oh well. I'll have to deal with it for only a little while. It's mainly shoes and my hair dryer and toiletries that make it heavy, but I did my best. The clothes don't weigh that much. Eric and I really need to invest in a luggage set.

So ... yeah. I'm off to Chicago for my best friend's wedding! It's going to be a great weekend ... busy, but great. I'm pretty excited!

I lost 8.4 pounds at Weight Watchers last night. Then Lindsy and my mom and myself went to Amerigo, the new restaurant where Harper's used to be. It was fantastic. Then I went to Loft with mom and bought three things, then came home. It was a good night.

I am going to write my speech on the plane. I pretty much know what I'm going to say, but I just have to get it out of my head and onto paper. We'll see how it goes.

That's all I guess. Maybe I'll get to post tomorrow or Saturday, but I doubt I'll have time. Who knows. :o)
