Great Day!

Got to work at 6 this morning ... I did a lot of things on my own. The way that inventory is taken in the morning is way weird and will take a few days for me to get used to, but for the most part, I am picking everything up quickly. I put the pie crusts in the oven, baked dutch apple pies, poured pies (pecan, sweet potato, chess), some cherry pies, and some pineapple upside down cakes (Job made those, though - I just learned and watched). Then I did two orders (one strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream icing and one chocolate with chocolate icing) and one for the case out front. I left about 1:00 and met Peter, one of the managers, at the Springhurst store so I could look around. The store itself is beautiful - big with huge wooden booths and nice sturdy wooden chairs and vaulted ceilings. The back, however, is another story. It is very small and broken up. What I mean is that the one where I am training is kind of like one big room - the cooler and freezer are right next to each other, and it all makes sense. At Springhurst, though, our baking space is about 30 feet long and about 10 feet wide. In other words, we'll be working in a hallway! I like cozy, but not when there will be two of us trying to work around each other. We'll see. I'm sure that I'll get used to it, but it just looks weird and doesn't make sense to me the way that it is set up.

Met mom for lunch at QDoba, which is always nice, and then came home and took a short nap. Had dinner with Eric and took a walk with Steve and Rachel. We walked in a few unfinished houses and talked about how the houses are built by people who don't really care ... and how it's all cheap. But we love our houses. :o) Now I'm watching American Idol and almost everyone is doing well!

I'm off tomorrow. I'm going to pay for my bridesmaid dress for Chrissy's wedding and I might go down Bardstown Road and buy my shoes!

Go here and read about how much cooler Louisville can be ... but it's already pretty damn awesome. :o)
