On Saturday afternoon we went to visit Mamaw in the nursing home. Nursing homes are so weird to me ... I know that older people require medical attention that sometimes families can't give, but to see these old people so helpless and sad, it makes me want to cry. I know I need to get used to seeing these kinds of things because I wasn't exposed to it much as a child, but it really disturbs me. Eric's mamaw is such a sweet woman and she makes me laugh, but she was in a "daze" and talking to people that have been dead for many years. We just sat there to keep her company although I'm not sure she knew were there. Maybe she did. I couldn't tell.
After that we stopped by Target where I returned the skirt and bought some lightbulbs and spaghetti sauce and shampoo. Good times. From there we helped mom finish making dinner at the house then headed over to grandma's for dinner. It was really good ... rigatoni with chard (sounds weird, but I liked it), cucumbers, mozzerella balls, rolls, some chicken from Kroger for Eric and myself, and a few other things that I can't remember. But it was a good meal. My grandma seems to be doing well and hopefully her pain will not get worse. She's the only grandma I have!
We left around 8 and mom came with us so she could finally watch "Pirates of the Caribbean." She enjoyed it, I think, and we also got to spend some time with Diana and her dog, Sparky. Good times. :o)
On Sunday Eric got up to go to church and I was bad and stayed in bed. When he got back I mowed the yard and I was proud of myself. :o) Then we started watching "The Notebook" and stopped to go get some lunch in the middle. We finished it when we got back and then ... can't really remember. Oh, I think we took a nap because we were so torn up from that damn movie. It's so sad, but so happy at the same time. I want to be just like Allie and Noah, minus the whole losing your entire memory thing. Allie. I like that name. :o) Noah is also a nice name. Anyway, for dinner we had riceroni and after that went to the grocery to get stocked up for the next few weeks. Diana accompanied us and we all got ice cream. Back at home I read a lot the rest of the night and we went to bed at the normal time.
First thing at work this morning, the people who failed the vocab thing on Friday took it again, so I had a whole hour to do nothing but read. It was pretty nice to get paid to read. :o) Then we all took the weekly quiz and I got a 99 on that. I was mad (sort of at myself) because the thing I missed, I actually caught and went back and fixed, but it didn't stick. So that sucks. But the rest of the day was fine and we didn't do too much. It was a good day and I read over a hundred pages at work.
I am loving the book that I am reading right now. It's called "The Birth of Venus" and it's by Sarah Dunant. It's about a fourteen year old girl living in Florence, Italy in the 1490s and all about her life during a strange point in religious history. So it's pretty cool and I'm loving it. It's not for everyone, but I love this sort of stuff. I haven't read for fun in a long time and I am going to start reading again. I used to read all of the time, but once I started college I didn't really have any time to read. Now I do! So yay for reading.
This evening I made shake and bake chicken, couscous, and caesar salad for dinner, which was very tasty, and then I went to the tanning bed and to workout. Good times. When we got back we walked around a little bit with Steve and Rachel, then we met our new neighbor Jim who lives behind us. He warned the guys to make sure they get their prostates checked regularly. I like him, hehe. :o)
Now we're watching "Friends" and I'm going to read a little bit. Like I said, good times.
