I'm sorry I haven't written in almost a week! I guess there hasn't been much to talk about. Work has been fine - still training. Our first day by ourselves is August 16th, so I've got two more weeks to "absorb."
Unrelated comment - it is really foggy outside right now.
Tuesday night we had dinner with mom and dad at Penn Station. We talked about their trip to Texas and it was good times. And yes, I think that I am going to change the name of my blog to Good times. I say it enough, don't you think? Oh, after dinner Eric and I went to Shoe Carnival and he got some new work shoes that he needed and I got a new pair of work shoes that I only sort of needed.
On Wednesday, we had pizza with Kyle, and Diana came over and we all watched tv. Diana attempted to teach me how to drive her car, which is a manual, and I did pretty well. I only killed the car once.
Thursday, Eric and I went to visit Diana and we test drove a Passat and a Jetta. I liked the Passat better.
On Friday, we went to dinna at QDoba and enjoyed the rest of the rainy evening together.
Yesterday morning we received a call from Diana at 9am and I didn't answer, but listened to her voicemail that said she had a 2006 Camry in stock that she thought we should look at. We thought, well, we've never driven a new Camry, and since we know we really want one, we might as well go drive it just to make sure that it's what we will eventually want. It is an amazing car ... so we talked prices and decided that there are no negatives to doing this deal. I know you're all thinking we're nuts, but it actually makes sense. We're getting out of the horrible lease that we're in with the Corolla and will never have to deal with Oxmoor Toyota again, our payments are actually going down (although the term is longer), and insurance is going down as well. Plus, we're getting rid of the negative equity that was associated with the Corolla. So, it is a very smart thing to do. After talking about it for awhile with Diana, we drove the Camry home for lunch, and while Eric helped Kyle pick out a TV at Best Buy, I drove the car over to my parent's house to discuss the whole thing with them. It took some convincing to assure my dad that it wasn't a stupid thing to do, and my mom loves it. It really is a nice car. I'll have some pictures up soon, but it's a 2006 Camry LE and it's white. It has 25000 miles on it (the previous owner must have had a long commute!) and it still smells like it's new. It's a beautiful car. I'm going to miss the Corolla, but I had my fun, and the whole deal sucked, so now we're out of it and we have a car that we'll actually be able to use with kids and stuff. Not that we couldn't do it in the Corolla, but the Camry is more of a "family" car. Hehe. Anyway, I left my parent's house around 4 and we signed the papers and were out of there by 5:30 after waiting around for a free full tank of a gas and a floor mat that had disappeared during cleaning. YAY!
So we came home and sat around until it was time to go meet Greta and Diana for dinner at the Thai place in Stony Brook. It was a very satisfying meal and it was also free because of Diana. She can never say that we didn't buy a car from her. :o) After that we checked out the movies at Blockbuster and decided against one there, and just watched tv at home until we got some ice cream at Hershey's out on Bardstown. We didn't get to bed until about 11:30, and now we have to get ready to go to church. It's the last day for the youth minister and he always wears Hawaiian shirts, so everyone is going to wear Hawaiian shirts. Hehe. Then we are going to lunch at the in-law's house and after that we might actually get around to doing what we were planning on doing this weekend, which was going to Bed Bath and Beyond to look at curtains for the bathrooms and living room. So we'll see.
I can't believe it's almost August ...
