Last week was a bit rough in our house. On Monday, I took Duncan to the doctor and he was diagnosed with his first ear infection. Poor guy. Really explains the rough time we had last weekend with him. Eric picked up his prescription on the way home, and I headed off to choir after dinner. During choir, I could tell I was starting to get a fever - I had chills and they were only getting worse. On the way home, I blasted the heat the entire way but was still cold. My fever broke that night, finally.
On Tuesday, Eric stayed with me until my mom could make it over. She stayed with me until 1:15 and helped with Duncan. I had trouble standing up for any length of time, had a headache, and my fever came and went throughout the day. Wednesday morning, I was feeling a little better, but still could not stand for very long. My fever was gone, but my throat started hurting. By the end of the day I was convinced that I had strep throat. On Thursday, though, the doctor confirmed that I just had a throat infection - somehow the infection in Duncan's ear had gotten into my throat. Gross. But by Friday, I was feeling much better, and my throat was on the mend.
We had a nice weekend together. On Saturday, we spent some time with Eric's parents while I helped Carol with some transcribing. Afterward, we headed to my mom and dad's house for Duncan to nap, and we watched Derby coverage all afternoon. I'm so glad no one go hurt at the track in that nasty mess of a track. Saturday night, we watched "No Impact Man," which I really enjoyed. My favorite quote:
"It's not about using as little as possible; it's about using what you need to live in a sustainable way." That's not word for word, but you get the idea. I love this quote. However, I do find myself sometimes trying to get rid of things ... clutter is not good for anyone, in my opinion. So, in that case, I like to "have" less sometimes; not just "use" less.
Yesterday, we worked around the house. Our kitchen cabinets are finally finished, and our next step will be to paint the kitchen table and the finish painting the walls in the downstairs hallway, stairwell, and upstairs hallway. Right now, our living room and kitchen are the nice coffee color, and the hallways are still yellow. Not ideal. :o)
Lots of events and exciting life-altering things coming up in the next few weeks and months, which I will post about sometime soon. Pregnancy is not one of these things, though, just to ease your curious minds.
