Duncan!

I don't even know where to start! :o)
Things are going well - getting better by the day. Friday afternoon and evening are a blur - I really don't remember much about it! My mom and dad were here, and Diana stopped by to visit, as well, and the cheeseburger and fries that I got to eat were fantastic. Haha! Breastfeeding seemed to be going well, but he wasn't latching correctly (I learned later - the hard way), so yesterday I was extremely sore. We've remedied the situation using a few 'tools' and things are going much better. The problem is not his latching, though - he is a champion sucker! We're just not getting him on there correctly yet.
I've had 2 hormonal overloads and I'm sure that poor Eric thought I was a little crazy for a while, but the nurse said that that usually happens (the overload, not Eric thinking I'm crazy, haha) the second or third day. Eric, by the way, is amazing with Duncan. I am sore from my 'repairs' so it's a little hard for me to move around, and Eric is always there to help me. I love watching him with the baby; it's one of the things I was looking forward to the most.
Yesterday we had visits from Eric's parents, grandparents, and Heather and her 2 younger kids. The day still flew by, despite the fact that I didn't get a chance to nap. Duncan was gassy last night (or so they say - I guess we'll learn!), so he did not want to go to sleep. The nurses in the nursery took good care of him while we got a little bit of sleep. We finally got him to sleep by ourselves at 6:00 this morning and he is still asleep. Yay!
We will be going home today, but Duncan will be getting his pictures taken and we also have to wait for visits from Dr. Graves and from Dr. Allgeier, the pediatrician.
All of Duncan's exams have come back just great - he is a little bit jaundiced, but they say that most breastfed newborns are. He is a strong and adorable little boy and we can't stop staring at him. His little head with black hair and his tiny feet too precious for words. Well, all of his parts are precious. :o)
We will be going home later today - wish us luck! And we'll post more pictures soon, too.
