Deck update

That last picture doesn't do today's efforts justice. My dad and I worked outside for about 3 or 4 hours. We squared up the edges and started filling in and squaring up all the joists. Just before the large front came through this afternoon we nailed in the last joists in front of the bay window. SO, all perpendicular joists are nailed into the headers. And then I cut some rail 4x4s and the pergola 4x4s in the garage right after the rain.
Next steps: Square up 5 more joists and cut all of them to length. Then cut corners off. 2 more angled joists left around the bay window. Notch 4x4 posts and bolt them all in place. After all that is done deckboards can commence.

Impressive work...I would be scared to begin such a project, although perhaps I could if I read up on it. How did you get the posts that go into the ground level...assuming they are in cement?
Can't wait to see the finished job!
Ah young padawan, the force is strong with you. Here's how you do it. You know you have to dig 30" deep (depending on your area). And you can calculate how far off your yard drops from the house with a line and a level. So with that you kinda guessimate how tall the total post needs to be then you cut it a little bit longer and cemenet it in. Once they all dry you come back with a string and a level and mark them all the same and cut off the tops with a circular saw. Preston chango, you have 8 posts the same height.
